Your role with us
As a senior epic integration specialist at Salem Health, you'll play a key role in connecting critical clinical systems, medical devices, and Epic applications to support safe, reliable, and efficient patient care. You'll leverage your expertise in healthcare interoperability, device integration, and Epic technologies to design, support, and optimize interfaces that enable seamless data exchange across the organization. Working closely with clinical teams, IT partners, engineering teams, and vendors, you'll help ensure the right data is available at the right time to support clinical decision-making and operational excellence.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, support, and monitor healthcare interfaces using HL7, FHIR, X12, CDA, XML, and related interoperability standards.
- Configure and support Epic Bridges interfaces and integration platforms such as Rhapsody or comparable integration engines.
- Lead medical device integrations, including design, testing, validation, implementation, and ongoing support for bedside, anesthesia, and specialty devices.
- Troubleshoot complex interface, device connectivity, message transmission, and data-mapping issues.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, application analysts, Clinical Engineering, IT teams, and vendors to optimize workflows and integration solutions.
- Participate in integration projects through analysis, design, testing, implementation, go-live support, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, interface specifications, testing results, and support procedures.
- Mentor team members on Epic integrations, healthcare interoperability standards, and integration best practices.
- Support incident resolution, knowledge management, and continuous improvement efforts within the integration team.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field; OR eight years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and healthcare IT experience.
- Five years of IT or operational experience in a healthcare or clinical environment.
- Three years of hands-on experience supporting HL7, X12, or healthcare interfaces.
- Epic Certification or Accreditation in at least one of the following: EpicCare Inpatient, OpTime, Anesthesia, Stork, ASAP, or Bridges.
Additional information
- Experience supporting healthcare integrations using Epic Bridges, Rhapsody, Corepoint, Data Courier, or similar interoperability platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare messaging standards and technologies, including HL7, FHIR, X12, CDA, XML, REST APIs, SOAP, SFTP, and TCP/IP.
- Experience integrating and supporting medical devices and middleware solutions within clinical environments.
- Proficiency with SQL, JavaScript, C#, interface scripting, data transformation, and technical troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate clinical and business requirements into technical solutions and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
