Salem, OR, US
Radiation Therapy
Full Time
Job ID: #17122

Location: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301
Department: Radiation Oncology
Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Exempt, Fully Onsite
Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, 24/7 accountability

Your role with us

At Salem Health, we believe exceptional patient care starts with strong, visible leadership—and this role is central to shaping the future of Radiation Oncology services.

As the Clinical Manager – Radiation Oncology, you will lead a highly specialized and collaborative department responsible for delivering complex oncology care with precision, compassion, and safety at the forefront. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced clinical environments and is energized by building strong teams, improving culture, and driving operational excellence.

This role is far more than overseeing daily operations. You will help guide a department that is actively evolving—bringing together diverse clinical and technical teams, strengthening communication and collaboration, and fostering a culture grounded in trust, accountability, and patient safety. You will partner closely with department leaders, supervisors, physicians, therapists, physicists, and frontline staff to create alignment across multiple specialty areas that must work seamlessly together to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Success in this role requires a highly visible, relationship-driven leader who leads from the floor—not behind a desk. You’ll spend significant time rounding, coaching, problem-solving, and supporting staff in real time. From addressing operational challenges and improving workflows to mentoring leaders and reinforcing a culture of respect and teamwork, your impact will be felt across the entire department.

This is an ideal opportunity for a collaborative leader who combines operational strength with emotional intelligence—someone who can navigate complexity, lead through change, and inspire teams through consistency, communication, and presence.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day operational and clinical management of the Radiation Oncology department, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care delivery.
  • Partner with directors, supervisors, physicians, and interdisciplinary leaders to operationalize strategic goals and improve departmental performance.
  • Foster a visible, approachable leadership presence through frequent rounding, staff engagement, and open communication.
  • Build strong relationships across clinical, therapy, and physics/dosimetry teams to strengthen collaboration and improve team culture.
  • Develop, mentor, and support supervisors and frontline staff through coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Lead efforts to improve employee engagement, communication, retention, and overall workplace culture.
  • Monitor and achieve goals related to patient safety, quality outcomes, financial performance, employee experience, and patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure regulatory, accreditation, and operational readiness standards are consistently maintained.
  • Utilize Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize workflows and operational performance.
  • Manage staffing operations, scheduling, oversight, and resource planning to support efficient patient care delivery.
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders and service line partners across oncology and imaging services to advance strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a key resource for operational problem-solving, follow-through, and cross-functional coordination.

What we're looking for

  • A highly collaborative, people-centered leader who values visibility, communication, and relationship-building.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to unify teams and lead effectively through change and operational complexity.
  • Demonstrated success coaching, mentoring, and developing leaders and frontline staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
  • A leader who thrives in highly collaborative environments and can navigate competing priorities with professionalism and adaptability.
  • Experience building positive team culture, improving engagement, and fostering accountability.
  • Ability to lead operationally while remaining closely connected to frontline staff and departmental needs.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Five years of relevant experience in a hospital setting.
  • Three years of supervisory and/or management experience.

Additional information

  • If a registered nurse presents as the finalist, that RN will be required to obtain American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Nurse Manager & Leader Certification or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nurse Executive Certification within two years of hire, which must be kept valid throughout employment.
