Your role with us
The registered dietitian at Salem Health is responsible for timely and efficient delivery of all aspects of the nutrition care process, most notably nutrition assessment, care planning and education. Here you are providing an exceptional patient experience while serving as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team.
What you'll do
- Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy aligned with the patient’s medical goals.
- Involve the patient and family in care planning when appropriate.
- Assess and monitor the nutritional status and needs of hospitalized or outpatient individuals using established guidelines.
- Write orders for diets, supplements, enteral nutrition, and lab tests according to hospital policy.
- Offer age-appropriate and culturally sensitive nutrition counseling.
- Document care using the electronic medical record and standardized nutrition terminology.
- Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds.
- Serve as a nutrition resource for patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and therapists.
- Coordinate dietary interventions with the call center and nutrition supervisor to support oral intake.
- Provide in-service education to medical, nursing, nutrition, and other professional staff as needed.
Required experience
- Bachelor Degree – Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree (if RD credential acquired before 01/01/2024) or Master’s Degree (if RD credential acquired after 01/01/2024) satisfying the requirements of a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Foreign Dietitian Education Program as approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) required.
- Completion of a Dietetic Internship (or individualized supervised practice program, coordinated program, or foreign equivalent) approved by ACEND required.
- Registered Dietitian – Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within six (6) months of hire.
- Licensed Dietitian – Licensed to practice in the State of Oregon or be able to obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire.

RN residency program
