Your role with us
The clinical informaticist I works closely with clinical staff to optimize Epic system use, providing training, support, and analysis to drive clinical excellence and quality improvement. This role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to analyze workflows, develop meaningful metrics, and implement system enhancements that meet clinical needs. By leveraging technical expertise and clinical knowledge, the clinical informaticist I helps Salem Health achieve its goals in patient care and operational efficiency.
What you'll do
- Conducts new employee Epic orientation sessions, provides hands-on training to clinical staff on Epic applications and new functionality, develops training materials, and maintains competency assessments and training records.
- Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, generates Epic reports and dashboards to support clinical operations and quality improvement initiatives, and analyzes system usage data to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
- Collaborates with clinical leadership to develop meaningful metrics and KPIs, supports regulatory reporting requirements and quality measures, and documents workflow processes to create process improvement recommendations.
- Analyzes current clinical workflows and processes to identify opportunities for Epic system optimization, translates workflow requirements into system functionality, and supports clinical staff in adopting new workflows and Epic functionality.
- Performs basic Epic build activities, maintains and updates Epic configurations, assists with Epic upgrades and implementation of new modules, and creates and maintains system documentation and user guides.
- Participates in Epic implementation projects and system upgrades, collaborates with IT, clinical, and administrative teams on Epic-related initiatives, and maintains regular communication with stakeholders regarding project status and system changes.
- Supports vendor relationships and coordinates with Epic support teams, and performs testing of Epic applications and configurations.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, healthcare, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, where eight years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (with each year of education equating to two years of experience, and an associate's degree considered equivalent to four years of experience) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of two years of professional training development and delivery experience.
- One year experience with electronic health records or healthcare information systems.

- A background as a licensed healthcare professional, such as an RN or LPN, or experience with Epic systems, including Epic certification or accreditation, can provide a strong foundation for success in this role.
