Your role with us
As a registered nurse on our gynecologic oncology team, you'll provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals with gynecologic cancer diagnoses, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote optimal outcomes and support patients' journeys towards recovery and wellness. You'll utilize your expertise in assessment, intervention, and education to deliver high-quality care and foster a safe, supportive environment for patients and families. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
What you'll do
- Assesses patients' complex needs and develops individualized care plans tailored to their unique gynecologic cancer diagnoses, evaluating patient responses to interventions and adjusting plans as needed.
- Prioritizes care based on patients' current needs, intervenes in emergency situations, and demonstrates follow-through in completing patient care tasks, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Documents patient assessments, plans, interventions, and responses accurately and consistently, and initiates and documents teaching for patients and families, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team, utilizing good communication skills, sharing information, and providing status updates to ensure comprehensive care.
- Seeks and utilizes evidence-based practice, participates in continuous professional development, and contributes to a positive and productive work environment, staying current with the latest advancements in gynecologic oncology nursing.
- Maintains a safe unit environment, uses patient restraints safely and appropriately, and demonstrates ability and willingness to assist management staff in full utilization of their skills, ensuring a culture of safety and excellence.
- Participates in leadership activities, such as assuming the charge nurse role, supervising and directing care given by others, and utilizing problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during the shift, promoting effective teamwork and patient care.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN); Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) and graduates of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire.
- Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ONS/ONCC certification within one year from date of hire.
- Minimum of one year of RN Staff Nurse experience.
