Your role with us

As an operating room nurse at Salem Health, you’ll play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care to patients across all ages and backgrounds. Working in one of the busiest Level II Trauma Centers in the Pacific Northwest, you’ll support a wide range of surgical specialties across 18 state-of-the-art ORs, excluding only burn and organ transplants. Whether it’s an elective procedure or an emergent trauma case, your ability to assess, anticipate and act will directly impact patient outcomes. What you'll do

  • Deliver intraoperative nursing care for elective and emergent procedures across multiple specialties

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient surgical workflows

  • Perform accurate, ongoing patient assessments before, during, and after procedures

  • Support trauma-level surgical cases as part of a 24/7 coverage team

  • Utilize state-of-the-art surgical equipment and technology

  • Communicate clearly and professionally in high-stress, fast-paced environments

  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence

  • Participate in educational opportunities and certification programs (e.g., CNOR, CRNFA)

  • Foster a supportive and respectful team environment rooted in Salem Health’s mission

Background/experience

  • Graduate of a Diploma RN Program and at least 5 years of acute care RN experience ADN, BSN, non-nursing bachelor’s degree with MSN, or MSN; preferred for West Valley Hospital. ADN graduate with less than 5 years of acute care experience required to sign agreement to complete BSN or MSN within 3 years of hire. Note: Employees hired as an ADN prior to October 2011 are not required to obtain BSN or MSN
  • Basic Life Support certification required
  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon
  • Association of perioperative Registered Nurses preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of operating room nursing experience required
