Your role with us
As a Sterile Processing Technician III, you will be a vital contributor to ensuring the highest standards of surgical safety and operational efficiency at Salem Health. Leveraging your advanced expertise, attention to detail, and organizational acumen, you will oversee the cleaning, sterilization, preparation and secure storage of instruments. In this senior role, you will also be responsible for preparing complex case carts for the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are precisely organized for critical procedures. Your leadership in sterilization practices will support exceptional patient outcomes and uphold the integrity of our surgical services.
What you'll do:
- Decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment per established protocols and manufacturer instructions.
- Inspect, assemble, and prepares surgical trays, packs, and case carts for procedures.
- Ensure compliance with biological, chemical, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintain expert knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization processes.
- Support and train lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians; promote effective team communication.
- Manage vendor loaner instruments, including verification, tracking, and coordination with surgical schedules.
- Collaborate with OR staff to ensure timely availability and accuracy of surgical instruments.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams to enhance department performance.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification (CRCST or CSPDT) and upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Minimum of two years of related experience with surgical instrumentation in a hospital sterile processing environment.
