Salem Health is seeking an experienced Obstetrician to join our established hospital-based OB Hospitalist team on a per-diem basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring perinatal safety for our 3,400 annual births, supporting both patients and colleagues across inpatient and labor & delivery settings. You will work in a collaborative environment with OB colleagues, certified nurse midwives, family medicine providers, and advanced maternal-fetal care teams. This position offers flexible scheduling with both 12- and 24-hour shifts, giving you the opportunity to contribute to high-impact patient care while maintaining work-life balance. OB Hospitalist
Our OB Hospitalist team is a cornerstone of Salem Health’s Women & Children’s Services Division, providing continuous coverage for labor, deliveries, triage, and inpatient care. Salem Hospital features a 19-bed Labor & Delivery Unit, a 26-bed Mother-Baby Unit, a 10-bed Pediatric Unit, and a 27-bed Level IIIA NICU. We are the second highest-volume birthing center in Oregon, with access to consultative maternal-fetal medicine, 24-hour in-house anesthesia, and a high-risk antepartum unit. Providers enjoy a collaborative culture that prioritizes patient safety, quality outcomes, and professional support, all within a state-of-the-art facility.
What you'll do
- Remain immediately available during assigned hours for perinatal emergencies, including emergency cesarean births, emergency vaginal deliveries, and urgent assessments.
- Provide comprehensive OB care during assigned hours, including labor and delivery, prenatal, postpartum, and follow-up care.
- Offer consultation, collaboration, and referral services to physicians, midwives, and advanced practice nurses.
- Assist in scheduled cesarean births and other operative obstetrical procedures while maintaining readiness for emergencies.
Required qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited program.
- Board Certification in Obstetrics through the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a board-certified/board-eligible OB/GYN.
- Performance of at least 50 deliveries in the past 2 years.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon.
