Cardiology Clinic
Our Cardiology Clinic is a collaborative team that includes a dedicated EP physician assistant, a fully functioning device clinic, and two EP labs featuring the Abbott EnSite mapping system. The role offers variety and balance with time in the EP lab performing procedures, time in clinic seeing patients, and inpatient rounding after cases. Our program supports a broad range of services including pacemakers, defibrillators, heart failure devices, Watchman, ablation (including complex and SVT ablation), and device management.
What you'll do
- Perform a wide range of elective and emergent electrophysiology procedures, including pacemakers, defibrillators, heart failure devices, Watchman, and complex ablations.
- Provide outpatient EP clinic care and inpatient rounding after procedures.
- Read ECHOs and perform TEEs (preferred but not required).
- Document care in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
- Collaborate with cardiology leadership on policies, protocols, and quality initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a strong referral base for EP services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounding and supervise the EP physician assistant.
Required qualifications
- Graduated from an approved school of medicine.
- Current unrestricted M.D. Oregon medical license.
- Current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number.
- Successfully completed an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship training program in Cardiology.
- Successfully completed an ACGME or AOA fellowship in electrophysiology.
- Training and experience through achieving Added Qualifications in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology granted by the ABIM or AOA, or ACGME approved fellowship training specific to the electrophysiology privileges being requested.
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Applicants who are not Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the ABIM or have Special Qualifications in Cardiology from the AOA, must obtain board certification within five years from completion of the applicable Residency and/or Fellowship program for the privileges being requested at Salem Hospital.
- For Applicants who were granted core level Cardiology privileges prior to the Board Certification requirement of January 2005, the Board Certification requirement is waived. However, all other requirements with regard to education, training, and current competency must be met.
- Demonstrate experience and current competency, to include the performance of at least 100 core cardiology procedures in the previous 24 months.
- Applicant must hold privileges for Moderate Sedation or Deep Sedation privileges.
- Maintain current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
- Documentation from Applicant’s fellowship training program, certifying Applicant’s experience and acceptable complication rate and procedural log is required for Applicant’s initial privilege request.
- If Applicant’s training was completed more than 1 year ago, documentation from Applicant’s hospital(s) attesting to Applicant’s experience, competency, acceptable complication rate and procedural log is required.
