Your role with us
In this role, you’ll be a trusted presence for staff and physicians, offering emotional support, guidance, and encouragement during challenging times. You’ll help foster a culture of compassion, inclusiveness, and resilience—ensuring that those who care for others are also cared for themselves.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, understands the emotional demands of healthcare work, and is committed to promoting wellness and psychological safety. You’ll work closely with leadership, participate in team debriefs, and lead initiatives that strengthen the emotional health of your colleagues. What you'll do
- Establish rapport with staff and physicians through trust-building and personal interactions.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals and teams, including proactive outreach to those identified as at risk.
- Offer encouragement and input to leadership on recurring concerns to help guide decisions and communication.
- Connect with staff through shift huddles, meetings, rounding, and presentations to educate and promote available services.
- Lead and support crisis debriefs for departments and teams when requested.
- Refer individuals to appropriate resources such as EAP and counseling services.
- Ensure all interactions reflect a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and confidentiality.
- Identify and respond to signs of burnout, compassion fatigue, and emotional exhaustion.
- Develop and lead workshops, education, and training focused on wellness and resiliency.
- Participate in Lean projects and interdisciplinary teams, contributing empathy, insight, and problem-solving skills.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, chaplaincy, or similar field or at least four years of relevant work experience.
- At least two years of experience in at least one of the following: social work, supporting individuals with traumatic events, palliative care, chaplain, other related experience.
Additional Information
- Training in critical incident stress management.
- Resiliency training.
- Experience in crisis support role with healthcare front line staff and or law enforcement/military.
- Certification by a recognized certifying body of chaplains.
- State of Oregon registered baccalaureate social worker (RBSW).
- Critical incident stress management certification.
- Certified crisis intervention specialist certification.

RN residency program
Begin your journey from student nurse to confident practitioner with our RN Residency Program. The program features a combination of didactic lessons, simulation, and track-specific class options. It begins with orientation and training and proceeds to preceptorship and mentorship.
