Your Role With Us:
Salem Health is seeking a pediatrician to join our hospital-based Pediatric Hospitalist team in a part-time capacity with the potential for expanded hours as our team continues to grow.
Our Pediatric Hospitalist team is a cornerstone of our Women & Children’s services, caring for hospitalized children and newborns in a unit that sees 3,400 births annually. With a Level III NICU staffed by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Neonatologists, and close access to subspecialty support and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in Portland, we’re committed to providing top-tier care to our community.
The Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine team is comprised of seven (7) pediatricians who work variable 8, 12 and/or 24-hour shifts to ensure continuous coverage and exceptional care.
Salem Health Women & Children’s Services Division Includes:
- 10-bed Pediatric Unit offering inpatient and outpatient services.
- 26-bed Mother Baby Unit for comprehensive postnatal care.
- 18-bed Labor & Delivery Unit with 12 labor and 6 antepartum beds, plus two operating rooms.
- 27-bed Level IIIA NICU for neonatal intensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care for inpatients, including unassigned patients.
- Offer consultation services to the Emergency Department.
- Manage hospital transfers, admissions and discharges.
- Care for newborns 35 weeks and greater.
- Collaborate with established practices to support their inpatient care.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects.
Background/Expertise:
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Board Certification in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (Applicants who are not Board Certified must obtain board certification within five years from completion of the applicable Residency and/or Fellowship program for the privileges requested at Salem Hospital)
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon
- Demonstrate experience and current competency, to include the provision of inpatient care for at least 12 pediatric patients in the previous 2 years.
- Demonstrate current competency to include the admission and/or provision of patient care for hospital patients, including ED evaluations/admits, in the previous 2 years.
- Current unrestricted federal DEA certification
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
- Will consider new graduates
- Knowledge of Lean methodology a plus
