Your role with us
As a student radiology technologist at Salem Health, you’ll gain hands-on experience while supporting our Imaging team in delivering high-quality diagnostic care. You’ll work alongside experienced technologists to perform safe, accurate imaging exams, strengthen your clinical skills, and learn the systems and workflows essential to a fast-paced hospital environment. This role is an excellent opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge, develop confidence with imaging equipment, and contribute to exceptional patient care.
What you'll do

Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging exams following American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and safety standards.

Select appropriate technical factors to ensure diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.

Assess exams for completeness and gather additional images or information when needed.

Adapt imaging procedures based on patient condition, comfort, and cooperation.

Document accurate patient history and exam details in Radiant/EPIC.

Operate imaging equipment safely and maintain cleanliness and functionality.

Use PACS, Radiant, and EPIC for image management, documentation, and workflow tasks.

Keep procedure rooms organized, clean, and well-stocked.

Follow ALARA guidelines, radiation safety policies, and medication reconciliation processes.

Support additional department tasks and team needs as assigned.
Required qualifications
- Current student enrolled in an approved Radiologic Technology program. Must have completed student competencies under the approved program. Must be within 5 months of graduation from approved program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Temporary or permanent radiology license through the Oregon Medical Board of Imaging (OBMI).
Additional information
- Student candidates must obtain the radiology certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of their hire date.

RN residency program
