Your Role With Us:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Manager is responsible for the following functions:
- Plan Strategically: References questions about strategy/tactics with “does it fit our goals and values?” and “what is the end-in-mind?”; makes decisions based on alignment with organizational goals and strategies; understands organization’s integrated strategic plan and always works to its goals while communicating these to staff; works in collaboration with leadership in a co-management relationship of resources, staffing, and quality of care; works with an orientation to meeting the current needs of customers as first priority; communicates the importance of the organization’s mission, vision and values; ensures employees understand their role and responsibilities in achieving organizational success; ensures that employees are informed about department and hospital goals, strategies and action plans; participates in development of related business plans.
- Staff Engagement: Demonstrates tenacity to meet organizational goals and encourages others during challenging times; solicits staffs’ views of the organization: “are we walking our talk?, and if not, what can we do differently?”; invites staff input in planning work processes and creates a work context where teamwork is valued; models personal ownership of problems; listens and responds to staff input and concerns, enlisting their help to solve problems or raises to supervisor; Promotes collaboration and teamwork; Involves staff in planning, decision-making and solving team conflicts; Cultivates a work environment that encourages interdepartmental cooperation, problem-solving and service delivery; implements management policies and practices that support accountability and outcome achievement.

- Manage Resources: Able to staff appropriately and manage staff efforts effectively; understands and uses information technology; uses recruitment, motivation, and retention strategies effectively; able to lead or delegate and complete projects effectively; able to make input to and implement budgets effectively; establishes targets and processes to monitor programmatic growth, clinical quality and effective operations within the designated operating units; maintains the highest integrity for patient, procedural, and organization data; with the assistance of assigned financial staff, reviews periodic financial statements and reports, and makes changes in resource allocation, spending, and other relevant business activity, to ensure the financial viability and budget compliance; supports and adheres to the financial controls and related policies and procedures of Salem Health and ensures that administrative and business activities are conducted in support of operational excellence; develops and assists with budgets; plans, implements, and allocates resources in collaboration with Leadership Team with a focus on operational excellence; provides for equipment operational excellence; coordinates and monitors capital expenditures; provides for equipment analysis and recommends modifications and acquisitions.

Background/Expertise:
Education:
- Bachelor Nursing required.
- Masters Nursing – Master's Degree preferred.
Credentials:
- Basic Life Support required.
- AONE Cert Nurse Manager and Leader OR ANCC Nurse Executive b – AONE or ANCC Nurse Executive Certification required within 2 years of hire and to be kept valid at all times.
- Registered Nurse – Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required or eligible for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
Experience:
- Three (3) years minimum acute care RN experience required.
- Two (2) years minimum progressive management experience required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrates skill in developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders (physicians, customers, managers). Provides evidence of change management skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Self motivated, team oriented, and possesses leadership skills.
- Computer system/business operations.
