Your Role With Us:

Responsibilities

Function: 1. COMMUNICATION A. Communicates effectively in a variety of situations (i.e. answers telephones and call light promptly and in accordance to Salem Health policy). Such as: I. Makes eye contact within a few seconds for anyone approaching the desk, etc. II. Tailors communication to meet the age-specific needs of staff, coworkers, patients, physicians, families, etc). a. Speak slowly and distinctly. b. Address patient by last name. c. Repeat information often (if needed). III. Communicate with RN assigned any observed behaviors noted for those patients on remote video monitoring 2. TRANSCRIPTION (ie during Downtime Procedures) A. Accurately processes/transcribes orders following unit specific guidelines excluding medication orders. B. Monitors telemetry per Salem Hospital guidelines. I. Accurately documents rhythms Q 2hrs at minimum II. Notifies staff of actionable (red or yellow) alarms per unit policy. III. Maintains ADT on telemetry log and monitor IV. Demonstrates proficiency of telemetry monitoring system 3. RECORDS MAINTENANCE A. Completes EKG monitoring documentation as necessary B. Initiates and maintains the medical record in accordance with Salem Health policy and unit specific standards (i.e.: accuracy in patient identification, accurate filing of patient documents), during downtime procedures C. Inputs orders, compiles lists and other information sheets, and completes other computer tasks as requested. D. Accurately documents pertinent patient information according to unit standards/time frames. E. Able to utilize back-up system and uses time effectively during computer downtime. F. Knowledge of down time processes for telemetry monitoring, both for the monitoring system and EMR. G. Document as appropriate communication of behaviors observed for those patients on remote video monitoring 4. SAFETY A. Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients and self (i.e. following infection control policies, taking broken equipment out of service, utilizing proper lifting techniques, keeping hallways free of clutter/ spills, etc.) B. Maintain continuous cardiac monitoring observation. C. Maintain continuous observation of patients on remote video monitoring 6. LEADERSHIP A. Assumes additional clerical responsibilities as department needs dictate. Runs errands, delegates appropriately. B. Participates in the educational process by orienting new employees effectively and contributing to their learning experience (i.e.: training with computer, telephone, call light/paging system, etc.). 7. Others: Duties as assigned per Unit Standard/Guidelines/Competency

Other Information

Experience: Recent experience in a health care setting preferred. Experience with telemetry monitoring preferred. Special knowledge, skills, & abilities: • Strong understanding of medical terminology preferred. • Ability to set priorities and maintain performance in stressful environments with frequent interruptions. • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage confidential patient information. • Requires self-direction and the ability to exercise judgment in prioritizing, accuracy and promptness in completion of projects. • Demonstrates dedication to good interpersonal communication skills with co-workers and patients. • Must have well-developed computer skills and ability to learn additional programs with minimal training. • Ability to work tactfully and effectively with physicians, nurses and other hospital employees.

      The Salem Health Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Residency Program enhances your PharmD education as you develop your clinical expertise in the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions.
